Daredevil: Born Again Trailer Reaction

10 years ago we got introduced to a new and improved Daredevil. 10 years later, he’s born again.

Daredevil: Born Again is the upcoming Daredevil series that brings back Matthew Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Newcomers include Margarita Levieva, Kamar de los Reyes, Arty Froushon, and Michael Gandolfini.

From the trailer, we can see that Matt Murdock has adjusted to civilian life while Wilson Fisk is trying to become the mayor of New York City. Crime never takes a day off though, as New York will once again need help from Murdock’s alter ego. New villains and heroes will emerge, and Daredevil will have to return to deal with both.

The first word that comes to mind when I think about the trailer is crunchy. The fights in the trailer reminded me of the fights from Fight Club. They looked intense and felt gritty, which I’m here for. Limbs were getting bent in the directions they aren’t supposed to go quite a bit.

I’m so glad they were able to bring so many people back. Everyone was great in the original series, and I am happy that Disney felt it was important to have so many people return. They even brought back Ayalet Zurer to play Vanessa Marianna-Fisk after her part had been recast.

I’m also glad Marvel decided to have the show more closely resemble its original Netflix incarnation. Hiring David Scardapane, one of the writers of Netflix’s Punisher, to be the new showrunner after Feige decided it was time for a creative overhaul seems to have been the right choice.

Daredevil is going to face some seriously evil people this time around. Not only are Wilson Fisk and Poindexter returning, but new villain Muse is coming to live action. I did some Googling on him and all I’ll say is expect a lot of blood. Another villain set to appear is Buck Cashman, also known as Bullet.

Daredevil won’t be fighting these threats alone. Joining him is his old frenemy Frank Castle. The Punisher being back makes me even more happy because Bernthal is the perfect Punisher. Daredevil will also interact with is White Tiger, played by Kamar de los Reyes in his final role.

If you haven’t already I recommend watching the trailer and catching up on the original show before Daredevil returns. I’m feeling very positive about the new series and I am hoping for the best.
