NEWS: FUNIMATION LICENSES A CERTAIN MAGICAL INDEX II AND DELAYS EVANGELION 3.33

Earlier today, Funimation announced its acquisition of both A Certain Magical Index season 2 and A Certain Magical Index: The Movie as part of its “12 Days of Anime” marathon of company announcements. Subscribers to the anime giant’s Elite Video Subscription program will get to stream the second season of Index on their website starting January 14th next year, while free viewers can see it on January 31st. No home release date has been announced yet, but chances are we’ll hear of it soon.

In other company-related news, due to the massive demand of theatrical showings for Evangelion 3.0 across the United States, Funimation has decided to delay the BD/DVD release of Evangelion 3.33: You Can (NOT) Redo. to a later, undisclosed date. If you ask us, this kind of sucks. Seriously, what’s the point of going to see it in theatres if you can just buy the movie less than a month later? Sigh, either way, we’ll update you all on when the new release date for 3.33 is announced.
