NEWS: CAPTAIN EARTH FIRST TRAILER POSTED

Studio BONES revealed the first trailer for their newest anime project, Captain Earth, last week. Developed by the same team behind Star Driver, the show has been described as a “conventional robot anime.”

Captain Earth follows Daichi Manatsu, a boy who discovers a strange, circular rainbow in he sky that for some reason appears familiar to him. Once he approaches the island where the rainbow appears, the robot Earth Engine descends upon him an asks if he is the captain. Daichi describes the following events as “a summer I’ll never forget.”

Despite how much Daichi and the Earth Engine remind us of Renton Thurston and the Nirvash, that’s probably just because its from the same producer. And while there are far too many conventional mecha animes around today, BONES has never steered us wrong, so this may still be a treat. Captain Earth will premiere next April.
