NEWS: BLIZZARD OFFICIALLY PULLS THE PLUG ON TITAN MMO AFTER SEVEN YEARS IN THE MAKING
Then again, it’s hard to officially cancel something that was never officially unveiled to begin with. Apparently, seven years ago after the widespread success of World of Warcraft, game developer Blizzard considered creating a new MMO simply called “Titan.” However, it was more something that people in the company talked about frequently instead of actually seriously sitting down and starting production on. Basically, it was just an idea. During his interview with Polygon, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime had this to say:
“We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs. So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn’t come together.
"We didn’t find the fun. We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.”
Three years alone is a long time for development, much less seven. For Blizzard fans who were eagerly looking forward to this, we feel ya. Not every game can be like Final Fantasy XV and survive over EIGHT YEARS of development history. Good news is, this might allow Blizzard the time to focus on other upcoming projects.
