NEWS: SONIC BOOM GAMESCOM AND PAX TRAILERS RELEASED

Nintendo posted the trailers for both Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal last Saturday on their official Youtube account, which were originally showcased at Gamescom and Penny Arcade Expo last month. The trailer for Rise of Lyric can be seen above, and the trailer for Shattered Crystal is available here. The former will be released for Wii U on November 18th, while the latter game will be released for Nintendo 3DS on November 11th. There will also be a new CG-animated Sonic Boom TV series premiering on Cartoon Network November 8th, which will serve as a sequel to both games. The trailer for Sonic Boom’s TV series can be seen here.

While skeptical at first for this being a reboot of the series, the latest Sonic Boom trailers actually have us pretty psyched for Sega’s new iteration of the speedy hedgehog. The writing doesn’t seem too bad, graphics look nice, and the gameplay looks fun. Shattered Crystal possesses the feel of old-school Sonic games, while Rise of Lyric continues with the gameplay style first introduced by Sonic Adventure. Also, the show looks pretty hilarious. So yeah, we could get behind this. Just don’t let us down with more game-breaking bugs, SEGA. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is currently being developed by Big Red Button Entertainment, and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is being developed by Sanzaru Games.
