NEWS: NINTENDO DISCUSSES SPIN-OFF GAMES AT Q&A
Releasing more software for a console is always in a company’s mind, and it’s clear that gamers want as much content as possible. This is something that Nintendo executives have addressed at a recent financial results briefing Q&A.
Satoru Iwata was the first to speak, discussing the importance of quality when it comes to their games. He went on to say how DLC is an effective way to get more content out in a shorter amount of time.
This has been proven time and time again to extend the lifetime of a game, and Iwata believes it will definitely help fill the long waits between franchise installments.
Shigeru Miyamoto also brought up another strategy that Nintendo plans to use: Spin-offs. Now, before freaking out about low quality games try to remember that not all spin-offs are bad. Take Hyrule Warriors for instance – a great game that fits well within The Legend of Zelda’s style. He went on to say that although these spin off games will be smaller in scale, they’ll still be fun to play.
Miyamoto stated that they are working with second and third parties that they’ve never collaborated with before to bring more games to the Wii U (such as Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 2). We’re definitely looking forward to what Nintendo will bring to the table with this new support. As long as they keep quality as a top priority, there’s no doubt in my mind that 2015 will be packed with new Nintendo software.
