NEWS: CAST ROLES ANNOUNCED FOR SUICIDE SQUAD MOVIE
DC has had a bit of a rough time with making movies, especially when you compare DC’s success with Marvel’s, but there is a light in the distance.
The Suicide Squad movie, coming in 2016, could possibly be that light now that DC has announced which actors would be playing the iconic team. With stars Jared Leto (as the Joker), Will Smith (as Deadshot), Tom Hardy (as Rick Flag), Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn), and Cara Deleveen (as Enchantress), this movie has the possibility to be amazing.
For those unfamiliar, a bit of backstory: the Suicide Squad is a team of supervillains from throughout DC comics who are used by the government to perform missions that are, well, suicidal. The only reason these villains go on these missions is they can get time off their—sometimes multiple—life sentences. This sort of explains why we sometimes see supervillains in the comics and animated series without any real explanations.
In short, this is one of the first comic book film adaptations to focus on the villains as people instead of just villains. That means this movie has great potential, seeing how no one has done something quite this edgy (except maybe Watchmen, but they were still heroes in a sense). As more information comes out, we will try keep you updated.
