NEWS: MARVEL UNIVERSE WILL END LATER THIS YEAR

In May 2015, the Secret Wars will begin, causing the mainstream Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe to smash together. 

According to a statement by Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Publishing and Executive Editor, Tom Brevoort, “Once we hit Secret Wars #1, there is no Marvel Universe, Ultimate Universe, or any other. It’s all Battleworld.“

For those who do not know what Battleworld is, it’s a patchwork planet constructed by the Beyonder using pieces taken from hundreds of worlds, including Earth, formed as an arena for his “Secret Wars”. But what does this mean for Marvel Comics and their plethora of superheroes? According to Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso, “We are taking the best and biggest pieces of [Marvel history] and seeing how easily they coexist with one another”. Axel Alonso also stated that “We (Marvel) don’t expect all our moves to make everyone happy, but we think it will make for a really fascinating read through Secret Wars and beyond”. 

Alonso also proved that this bold new move will lead to a Marvel Universe where everything and anything can happen by saying, “if we wanted to resurrect Gwen Stacy, this would be the place to do it”. Whether we like it or not the Marvel Universe is about to change dramatically. 

In my opinion, we should buy Secret Wars #1 with an open mind and heart. Because who knows? Maybe this is the best thing to happen to the Marvel Universe since its creation.
