NEWS: SUPER SMASH BROS. DIRECTOR MASAHIRO SAKURAI CONFIRMS MEWTWO DLC IS COMING SOON

In a recent livestream, Director Masahiro Sakurai of Super Smash Bros. fame and Sora Ltd. announced that progress on the upcoming Mewtwo DLC pack is “pretty much done.”

The livestream featured the director as a guest alongside other talents, including voice actor Tomokazu Sugita, and he decided to take the opportunity to finally discuss a bit about Mewtwo and its release. Sakurai acknowledged the many people that are looking forward to the new character, and assures fans that an announcement regarding the returning veteran is coming very soon. Sakurai had this to say:

“About the delivery of Mewtwo that everyone is worrying about, it is pretty much done… We plan to release Mewtwo pretty soon.”

Mewtwo was announced as a downloadable character for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS late last year during the “50-Things Extravaganza,” an announcement video narrated by series announcer Xander Mobus. This is the first official word concerning the character’s addition to the game roster since then. Mewtwo will be available for download sometime during Spring this year, with free download codes for both versions of Smash Bros. being distributed to Club Nintendo members who register their games before March 31st. There has been no announcement yet regarding the DLC’s availability for non-Club Nintendo members.
