NEWS: AKAME GA KILL COMES TO TOONAMI ON AUGUST 8TH
Adult Swim’s Toonami block announced at their Momocon panel earlier today that the hit action anime Akame ga KILL! will be joining the block starting this fall.
Akame ga KILL! follows Tatsumi, a civilian who has come to his nation’s capital to join its military ranks in hopes of supporting his village back home. However, he quickly learns that the capital is bursting at the seams with corrupt politicians and sick billionaire supremacists. Tatsumi soon encounters ‘Night Raid’, the rebel group of assassins whose sole purpose is to bring the Capital to its knees, and he decides to join them in their efforts. The 24-episode series streamed on Crunchyroll during the second half of last year, and is licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
This will be Sentai Filmworks’ first licensed show to premiere on Toonami, which is tremendously exciting as it opens possibilities for several of Sentai’s other action-oriented shows to also possibly air on the block in the future. During several Q&A sessions on their tumblr page over the past year, Toonami confirmed that among the shows requested by fans Akame ga KILL! was one of the most popular.
