If you thought Pixar couldn’t outdo the last trailer for Lightyear, you’d be happily wrong. It’s filled with revelations, new character looks, and so much more fun stuff.
Lightyear will star Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear. Joining him are Uzo Aduba as Commander Alice Hawthorne, Keke Palmer as Izzy, Taika Waititi as Morrison, Efren Ramirez as Diaz, Peter Sohn as robot cat Sox, and James Brolin as Emperor Zurg. This film will also feature Dale Soules as Darby Steel, Mary McDonald-Lewis as Qurinside, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Commander Burnside.

Everything still looks amazing, everything from the character design to the cinematography, everything just looks 8K good. I will go as far as to say that this is the best looking Pixar movie I have yet to see.
We get more of a sense of what the whole plot is going to be. Looks like during his test flight, Buzz Lightyear will travel 62 years, seven months, and five days into the future. It’s there (or then, or when?) that he meets Izzy, the granddaughter of Commander Alice Hawthorne, and helps her and her friends fight against the imposing robot death machine Zurg.

It looks like it’s going to be a good mix of humor and serious sci-fi. Lightyear to me still feels more like Star Trek meets The Martian meets Gears of War instead of Star Wars. Which is fine, as long as it doesn’t feel too derivative of those properties and instead feels like its own unique creation. As the years go on, it feels like it’s harder and harder to create something that feels truly original.
I’m glad we got to meet more of the other characters in the film. Both Alice and Izzy Hawthorne look to both be strong female characters. The rest of Izzy’s team feel like a fun group too. Sox seems less creepy and more fun this time around, maybe because I didn’t stare into his eyes for too long.

All in all that’s the new and noteworthy details about the latest trailer worth mentioning. I’m still very excited to see this movie. I feel like Pixar has a massive hit on their hands, and a film that could be remembered with the likes of Up, Toy Story, and Finding Nemo. That’s right, I think we’ve got a bonafide classic on our hands. This trailer has made me infinitely more excited for Lightyear, and I hope it has hyped you up too.
