Green Lantern John Stewart is getting his own animated film, one where we will see him filling big shoes and facing off against one of the universe’s worst intergalactic threats.
Green Lantern: Beware My
Power is set
to star the DCEU’S Hawkman Aldis Hodges as John Stewart, Jimmy Simpson as Green
Arrow, Ike Amadi as Martian Manhunter, Brian Bloom as Adam Strange, Jamie Gray
Hyder as Hawkgirl, and Rick D. Wasserman as Thaal Sinestro. Nolan North has
been cast in an unrevealed role.

John Stewart becomes a Green Lantern after he’s found
by a Guardian of The Universe. Hal Jordan has fallen defending Thanagar from
the Sinestro Corps. Now Stewart, Hawk Girl, and the rest of the Justice League
have to stop Sinestro and his crusade of destruction.
It’s been 11 damn years since DC made a Green Lantern
animated movie, the last one being Emerald
Knights. I enjoyed both that film and First
Flight so I’m pretty excited for this one.

Green Lantern is a character that has always had good
animated movies. Moving on from Hal Jordan to John Stewart is a smart move
considering John Stewart is a highly popular Green Lantern.
Hal Jordan has had his time being the star of DC
animated movies, and considering how shit his live action movie was, it’s
probably best if he took a back seat to John Stewart. I bet a lot of fans of
the Justice League show will be
excited for this film because Stewart was the Green Lantern of that team. I
know it’s one of the reasons I am excited for the film.

The action looks like what Green Lantern action should
be: bright, quick, and creative. Seeing Stewart learn how to use his ring while
also dealing with his memories of war will be interesting to watch. It will be
cool to see how Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter take on Sinestro’s
warriors. The action potential in this film is high.

DC has always done a good job with their animated
films. Statistically they’re better than DC’s live action films. Beware My Power looks like it should
continue the tradition of animated DC quality. Green Lantern: Beware My Power comes out on Blu-Ray and digital
July 26th, 2022.
